Bear Stearns eBay Analyst report

I have managed to get my hands on the Investment bank Bear Stearns report on eBay.  I makes pretty interesting reading and I will try and summarise the most interesting parts

The report shows the despite the negative publicity which eBay received last year, the platform is going from strength to strength

  • Global Quarter to date listing up 10% year on year
  • 1% of seller account for 40% of negative buyer
  • eBay hosted 43.4 million listing in the third week of 1Q07
  • eBay Total Store + Core listing 64.5million.  Of these 15.6million are listed on eBay express,  a penetration of 24%

Judging by these figures, Ticket and travels is a huge growth area with several other categories performing extremely strongly.

  1. There number in favor of eBay are really unbealivable. Dispite their negative publicity about fees hikes, obviously people like this auction giant very much. Nothing can reverse this progress right now.

  3. Like Sharel, I’ve been watching eBay and Amazon stocks. Now that things have really heated up around eBay (fee hikes, no negative feedback policy, neturals count like negative, etc.), I’d be very interested in your updated blog. Please update the information about eBay!
